Keeping Snow Safety In Sight

A Snow Code pocket card has been developed in collaboration with British eyewear brand Panda Optics. The card is in response to a swell of concern about other slope users perceived lack of control and passing by too fast and too close, from respondents in the Fear Project research by Kimberley Kay and Dr Carol Porter.

The cards, with ten slope etiquette bullet points, will be included in all Panda Optics children’s goggle boxes during the 2025/26 winter season.

Kimberley Kay, author and illustrator of Ski A to Z, who works to reduce barriers to snowsports participation and enjoyment, said, “After previously creating an illustrated poster the snow safety points have been distilled down further to make them a handy size pocket card. The card will serve as reminder, or for those new to snowsports, to inform them of the snowsports code of conduct and their responsibilities.”

Oliver Heath, Managing Director of Panda Optics, said, “There are some things that we cannot control on the slopes, but being aware of good slope conduct can help our customers to be less likely to experience incidents with other slope users. Snow safety starts with each of us, and at Panda Optics we want our customers to enjoy snowsports and knowing the code is at the heart of being a responsible member of the snowsports community.”
